Commerce has always been one of the most promising use cases for blockchains, yet only recently has the technology become fast, scalable, and efficient enough to serve global markets.
As crypto adoption accelerates and its advantages over traditional payment rails become clear, merchants are increasingly incentivized to move onchain and away from centralized platforms. Still, most solutions so far have focused narrowly on replacing the payment step, overlooking the broader potential of decentralized, programmable, composable commerce.
The purpose of Slice is to unlock that potential. Rather than adapting blockchain to today’s e-commerce models, we are rethinking commerce from first principles — with trustlessness, interoperability and privacy at its core. After years of research and experimentation, we believe the future of commerce will take place on Ethereum.
To realize this vision, Slice is building the World Marketplace: decentralized infrastructure designed to make Ethereum the base layer for settlement and coordination across payments, listings, fulfillment, identity, and reputation.
The Slice protocol today serves as its foundation, with:
- neutral, open infrastructure for global commerce that any merchant or platform can build on
- an open-source library of hooks to extend stores, products, and payment flows
- verifiable onchain data to support listings, orders, and reputation
- built-in incentives to align buyers, merchants, referrers, agents, and platforms
As we move toward launch, we’re inviting industry leaders and forward-thinking organizations to join us early. If you’d like to help shape the next generation of commerce and be part of it from day one, reach out at partners@slice.so
